Stuck in the mid of midterm time. I know you understand how not fun that can be. Today was my first midterm, and it was ever so easy. I was happily shocked that I finished it sooo fast cuz I knew most of the answers. *smiles*, if only all the midterms could be like that. It helped of course that I got a little study card to use - that was in fact the first time that happend to me. Normally my midterms are devilish. Arg, i'm done for the week, but next week is insane... three midterms and a project! oh my! I don't know if luck will cut it, I really need to study.

Make A List!
This morning I woke up early (this is happening too often it seems), and went to the gym with Heather, Lindsay and Christelle. The last two were new to Heather’s and my new little routine. It was fun though. Then I went back home and Craig and I decided to go the library to get some work done. Ha ha, we weren’t there very long before he started starring at the people skating outside on the canal (we can see them from the library windows), and he suggested to go get some beavertails. Feeling weak willed as one gets while doing boring homework, I agreed. Of course, on the way over, we just HAD to stop in to the mall to see Maggie and do a little shopping. So finally we make it to the canal and decide the first beavertail store’s line up is too long… so we go to the next, which turns out to be much farther than predicted. We finally make it, but it turns out to be closed, so then we head back to the first one, because by that time we were hungry for some sort of lunch, and we end up waiting in the massive line up. arrg. No problem though, as we eventually get our yummy beavertails, which we went back to the mall to eat. lol. It was there that we decided that we never stick to our plans, and thus we need to create a list from which we must not deviate. While at the mall we go back to visit Maggie to show her out cool list… but then head back to the library (a different one this time – as we had written on our list) and get back the that homework. Eventually we get kicked out and have to go back to the original library. For dinner I had another first (#1 being on the canal), Craig and I went out for shawarma… which was okay, but not as good as I had heard. Now we are back in the original library again to get more work done. Perhaps tomorrow will be a more productive day. No worries, won’t be here much longer, soon it will be time for super fun dance party!
GD Celebrations
Something funny that happened yesterday was there was an international fair at the school that my friend dragged me to in order to try some food from around the world. We had some Taiwanese bubble tea (now I know that I like bubble tea warm and cold!), but when we got to the chinese table, they asked me to try some green tea. My friend had some, but I said no thank you. They looked at me like I was chicken or something. As my friend stayed at the booth looking around for a while, the lady asked me why I would not like to try some. To her shock, I told her that I already had tried it. It shocked her even more when I told her that I liked green tea ice cream much more than the actual tea. ha ha... you should have seen her face!!! She like freaked on me cuz she probably assumed that I was an uncultured little white girl. She proceeded to give me directions on how to get some up here and wanted to know where I had gotten it from. lol.
Then last night, Maggie came over for a girls movie night and we watched 'curious george' (very cute!), and 'never been kissed'. Good times!! Thanx again for awesome groundhog day maggie, but next year Heather said we could watch the gd movie!!

Sweet Spring!
What a great way to wake up this morning. I had to be up early anyways for class, so I turned the TV on and waited for the groundhog day report. I love Wiarton Willie for predicting an early spring! sure this winter has been short, but it was harsh at many points. Oh, Wikipedia has stated that the top groundhogs are in agreement: Punxsutawney Phil, Staten Island Chuck, Wiarton Willie and Shubenacadie Sam are all for an early spring!
This has really cheered me up!! It's good news for spring :)
Tonight maybe some groundhog day celebrations with Maggie and Heather? dunno. Maybe they will even let me watch the movie. ha ha... okay, I will not push my luck... I know that movie is annoying... but it's just cool too.

Countdown to Groundhog Day Continues!
Tuesday, January 30, 2007
It's almost Groundhog day!!!
Sunday ended pretty well - ha ha, another degrassi and salad party! After Maggie left, I tried to finish off season 3 of junior high... but couldn't stay up that late, so ended up waking up early Monday morning cuz I just had to know how it all ended.
So I'm sad that it is almost the end of January because that means it's time to get serious in February. I have a ton of projects and midterms right before the break. Then some right after I get back, so I had to make the decision to cut my break short to get back up here to finalize my projects. How cruel!
Can't wait for super stressing in February!! NOT! However, groundhog day is this week!! Maybe I'll get some good news about the end of this stupid season!!

Three Library Trips!
Posting from the library… cuz that is where Craig has dragged me to get our homework done. lol. This has been a pretty good weekend, not overly productive, but I have gotten quite a few things out of my way for the moment. Friday I hung out with an old amiga, and we went for hot chocolate. Afterwards Craig and I helped our other roommate clean up the apartment. I vacuumed! Impressed? Ha ha. The three of us hung out for a while, I hadn’t really spent the time to get to know her yet, so that was good – perhaps a little late but better late then never as they say. Then two of them ganged up on me and made me try a coup. C’est pas pour moi!
Saturday morning woke up early and went to the gym with Heather and Craig. Then went home and got into the homework mood. Later Craig and I went to Heather’s place to visit her and Lindsay. The four of us went to the local grocery store and bought a brownie cheesecake. Split that five ways (Heather’s brother) and had a nice late night desert. None of us were successful in finishing the massive slices, although Lindsay came pretty close. Ha ha, Craig’s was so huge that it was like three times larger than mine. So we followed that with a little DDR. I pretty much suck at that, but they didn’t let me leave without playing a game. Which I passed! ha ha. I less proud of that then it would seem.
This morning Craig woke me up during the weirdest dream I have had in a while (something about being the lead in a Swedish play and having tons of people loving my performance even though I was making it up as I went). Anyways, so ya, we went to the library this morning to get lots of homework done. We actually were so early that we had to wait for it to open. lol. After lunch I took another stab at the other half of my extra cake – so now I’m down to like 1/4 of the original amount. Anyways, Craig and I noticed we were not getting much done and so here we are again at the library.

Dawning
Okay, the layout is a little different, but it had to be changed eventually. Plus it was probably a good thing that I got rid of the people who suck list. It was a little childish of me perhaps. Anyways, that is all I have to say tonight.

Juice and I will be together again...
Secondly, once again I'm cornered into something I can only hope will be amusing. Thinking/believing that it will not be only makes me squirmy inside. Why do I always let myself be cornered like this? Why do I try to please so many people? I hate caring too much! arrg.
ha ha, maybe my lack of juice is making my crazy? perhaps it is causing me not to think clearly. arg, common shannyn, you have nobody to blame this time but yourself.

Post 378
So this morning was quite an experience. After getting a pretty decent mark in my linguisitcs class on an assignment I stayed back after class to ask the prof a question. When I went to leave, the next class was coming in to door. I wanted to exit and the way the situation was, when I opened the door to leave, the girl (who was coming into the class at the same time) stood there in my face. She should have let me pass. I thought it was soo rude of her not to stand out of my way to let me go through the door first so that I could leave the classroom and the line of people behind her could enter afterwards. Arg, I was frustrated but since she was still trying to get into the classroom, I stood back a bit to let her through. Then I realized that she was blind, and thus was struggling to get into the class (with the help of a friend). lol - I walked right into a blind girl and was mad she didn't move. ha ha.

POST 377
So the biggest news is the insane amount of snow. yea, I have no idea how much, but I would guess that there is easily over a foot outside my door right now. It just kinda came all of a sudden and shocked me.
More surprising though, is that today I bought a bottle of water, and drank it within 3 hours!! For those who are not shocked, you must not realize how much juice I consume, or how rare it is even for me to drink water outside restaurants. Last school year I would probably say that I had 2 whole bottles of water during the whole year. Yup, just two! And this was the first bottle of water I have drank all year. Everyone tells me that I should be drinking water - that's not the reason I did it today - but as I feel a cold coming on and needed a drink to make it through my class I was kinda cornered into my purchase. ha ha.

Sexy Banana Hammick is 20!
Yesterday was Heather's 20th birthday!! I'm sorry about not blogging yesterday, it was kind of a busy day - otherwise I so would have wished her a happy birthday!! lol. (HAPPY BELATED!!) ha ha. So anyways, we started off the party with bowling!! I sucked again... which is the most hilarious as I once took lessons. Perhaps things you learn in 5 pin bowling cannot be transfered over to 10 pin. ha ha! Umm, so yea then we went to the mall for dinner.. where I got to meet ber's and maggie's new bfs. I'm still sticking by that cmm reference maggie!
(sorry to maggie and everyone else at our table who heard me speaking french. I once heard of a francophone lady who had perfect french, but would not speak a single word of it when she knew that an anglophone was around. My grandmother told me this story because she had once heard this lady speaking french when she didn't know my grandmother was there, but as soon as she discovered it, she wouldn't speak another word of it so as not to be rude. I always admired that woman because I know that it is kinda mean to have a conversation another person cannot understand. So let me just apologize now for speaking french to sean and leaving everyone else out of the conversation.)
Afterwards we met up at Heather's place for monopoly and a little dance party to random music Craig downloaded. ha ha. As the game ended technically 30 mins after Heather's date of birth, her brother didn't have to feel guilty about not letting her win... as he came out a very rich man. Monopoly is awesome! Of course, so was playing Friends Scene It friday night with Maggie at her place. Out of the three of us, I so should have done better. Clearly Beckie and I need to team up and squish everyone else!

Proud Sis
Okay, I'm a post-aholic today, but after my last post, my baby bro called me to tell me that he past his driving test. So now he can drive me whenever I need a ride. lol. It is also his birthday today and I kinda forgot to wish him a happy birthday on my last post (even though I hope he doesn't read this).
HAPPY 17TH BIRTHDAY RY!!
I hope you have an awesome day and that you treat my car well. lol. Congratulations on your achievements today! LOVE YOU!

That makes how many more weeks to go??
So today concludes my first full week of classes. I can assure you they were nothing thrilling, but I am lucky enough to know (/made friends with) at one person in each of my classes. Funnily enough in all my classes save one I know somebody from my program. Plus the majority of my classes are not to far from my building. Although I still have the odd few that are too far away that I really can't imagine having to get there when the weather worsens.
When going on a hunt for one of my classes recently I ended up stuck in a stairwell with both doors into the building locked... I was freaking out a little bit but I eventually found an emergency exit which I proceeded to run out of incase an alarm sounded. lol.
I have gotten all my marks back except one... and I have to say I am not quite satisfied but they were what I expected all along. It just hurts to see the reality. There will be no deans list for me this year seeing as how my marks this semester will probably be equivalent (having no courses in english to bring them up).
Last night Craig and I had a salad and Degrassi party. I had gotten the first season of the old episodes (which I had never seen before), plus we had bought a ton of salad the other day (which we seem unable to finish). lol. So the result was obvious - we needed that degrassi+salad party. lol. I have to wonder why I missed out on Degrassi as I child. It's just sooo funny. The combination of bad acting, out of style clothes, and huge antennas on technology is just too much to handle!

Another Year... Think of the Possibilities
Happy New Year! ha ha... okay, it's a little late, but as I haven't blogged in some time, I think it is acceptable. Anyways, I love how I started off the new year and I couldn't have imagined a better end to 2006. Of course it would have been better if I were surrounded by all my friends, but I can't ask for everything. So, to summarize, Jenny W., Sharon, Henry and I spend new years eve skating downtown, then we went out for dinner, after which we met up with Jamie and we all decided to go clubbing. It was everyone but Henry and my first time which made it pretty cool. However, I was shocked at the prices on new years. soooo much more expensive than up here! We ended up going to the cheapest one and spend the evening dancing there. At midnight I was surrounded by friends having balloons and confetti dropped on me. Perfect! Sure there were some weird moments, but we spent the rest of the night talking about them. I can honestly tell you that at the beginning of 2006 I never would have been able to see myself here at the end of the year. I dunno if it is were I should be, but it is fun and that is what matters. In a year from now I have no idea where I will be, but I hope I'm happy.
Today I came back to rez and spent my first night back watching "charlotte's web" with Maggie and Beckie. Spiders are creepy, but Charlotte was a pretty cool spider... tolerable on the eyes even! ha ha. Thank you sooo much for the xmas present Maggie, I love it more than I can express and I can't wait to organize my earings! lol... I'm just nerdy that way.
Who knows what will happen this year... it's hard to be patient and wait just to see.

Under A Christmas Tree?
Abercrombie & Fitch, Armani, Burberry, Chanel, Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, FCUK, Gucci, Lacoste, Prada, Vera Wang, and Versace. Or maybe Anna Sui, Estée Lauder, Lancôme, Tiffany & Co.!
Ha ha. Merry Christmas everyone!
Oh Please!
Somehow I doubt it.Ha ha. Merry Christmas everyone!
Not Feeling the Christmas Spirit - must be the lack of snow...
Christmas at home:
Yesterday we went to my parent's friends' house. They have an 8/9 year old daughter (spoiled only child!) First my brother and I played a Lizzie McGuire game which she SO cheated at! Then we went downstairs and she played with my hair and did my nails. Ha ha, doesn't sound too painful, but let me say that she painted both sides of the nail.... and spilled nail polish all over my fingers. Afterwards I could barely move my fingers. The dinner was amazing though.... so worth the trip! Honestly this girl is so cute... but sooo evil! ha ha, I can't explain it... she's just really smart for her age. You can't trick her! ggrrr.. she's like as smart as me!
Today is Christmas eve. My dad and I pretty much can't stop fighting. My brother is insensitive and lazy. My mother is trying to do too much and be the perfect hostess. Things were fine but now my grandparents and my uncle are over. He is pretty much suffering on the inside and just sitting here taking everything my grandparents throw. My grandmother refuses to stop talking... and my grandfather is teasing us all. Oh, this sounds like a normal day to me though. Although it is clear that my uncle is putting an extra christmas effort to restrain himself and behave.
Tomorrow I get to see the other half of the family. It's the bigger half... and there are lots of people I like talking to... but there are of course a few I really don't. Sometimes I wonder if going there and getting the presents is really worth what I have to go through.

First Adventure Back Home
Yesterday I woke up super early, had a shower, packed my overnight things, drove my brother to school, then went to Alice's house where I learned all about chemistry! I still remember that positive/negative real gas! ha ha... Anyways, then Alice and I bussed + subwayed downtown where I met up with Janet, wished Alice good luck on her exam, and then went to see Janet's place. By then it wasn't even near noon. Janet and I decided to go shopping... and we basically went everywhere downtown... as in we didn't stop shopping until after 4. Then we waited for Shannon and Doris to show up. Then the four of us plus Jenny and Celia went out for dinner. Not only was it very yummy, but we all learned something new about each other. We couldn't decide what to do afterwards, but Shannon and Doris had to go home. So Janet, Jenny, Celia and I went to Jenny and Celia's apartment ad hung out there. Oh card games... Bellinies and mike's combined didn't help Janet and I do well. ha ha.... then Janet and I went back to her place... watched the smurfs!! (yah... that was sooo the best!) We stayed up late talking and catching up... such a slumber party! lol.
This morning I woke up and was treated to breakfast by Janet... Thanx! But I was freaking out about being late to pick up my car from Tacky's as Janet's mother was stuck in traffic -because if I were then nobody would be there to let me get it. In the end we raced to Tacky's house, hoping to catch her mom who could let me in... but alas we must have just missed her... so I ended up actually busing back alone (ottawa people might not think that is shocking, but I hate the crazy system down here... and I will never understand it! ha ha)
Anyways, after walking home from my stop I started to do my laundry, and bake cookies. (lol - craig... I didn't burn them... plus my sink was clean enough to work with! wow.... I almost forgot what that was like...) ha ha. I love baking! I hope there are going to be more awesome adventures downtown... Tacky, we misssed you there!

Post I Wrote on the Train
Sitting here on the train, thinking about last night’s fun. Also listening to some music (Maggie, after hearing Incubus’ Anna Molly, I don’t really think that your friend Ian sounds like them, but I think the band itself in general does a little bit). So last night after my last exam Maggie came over and we hung out at my place until we got hungry, then we went out for dinner at the Royal Oak. Good food! Afterwards we headed down to see Maggie’s old co-worker in his band. I have to say they were like a million times better than what I expected (and very nice too!!) I got to meet their groupie (ha ha!) and got a free CD in the end! It was such a perfect night and I had the best time! Got back a little late… couldn’t sleep for a while because I kept thinking of things to pack that I had forgotten. Meh… I really hope I didn’t forget anything!
So far I have watched Mary Poppins and played a lot of mindsweeper and freecel. Good times…. but my battery is running low now so I don’t know what I am going to do for the rest of the trip! Seeing as how it’s only been a little over half way I think I’ll die of boredom before I make it!
So I am thrilled about this trip home. School is sucking… and next semester I am going to die… none of my courses are in English! What was I thinking? Maybe I am crazy… that sounds likely. Anyways, I am on the other hand looking forward to next semester… some classes are promising. Plus if things work out with people coming to visit me, it should be full of good times. I just need to get over my hatred for the weather here. Ha ha…. Next semester is going to be ultra cold, I can just feel it. It’s been too nice out these past few days that I can only guess how bad it is going to get in the next two months.
Anyways, I when I get the chance to post this I will be home and will have the chance to see everyone I miss!
