So this is Christmas...

I'm hiding up here in my room tonight. There's a bunch of old people downstairs right now, and I'm so not in the mood to make small talk about school and such. My only ally has deserted me. boo. The next few days aren't going to be super fun either. For the next three days in fact I'm going to have to deal with the family and perhaps my parents' friends. ick!
-I just deleted the rest of this post an hour after I wrote it.

Snow at my Window

It's strange that back at school my computer's internet only works in certain parts of the house while at home it works everywhere, thus making it more likely that I'll be able to be near my webcam, which I don't like having attached to my computer.
Anyways, so that's what I look like now... in pretty serious need of a haircut if you ask me. It is however my preference to get haircuts done after christmas so that I don't end up with terrible hair for the pictures and for family visits. *how vain*... but honestly, I like knowing what I can and cannot do with my hair, but if I get my haircut before christmas then I may not know how to get it the way I like it. I suppose you could say I'm not brave enough to give it a chance, which is totally true, but in this family one does try to look there best at all times.

Thoughts from the Train

It looks so chilly outside. Thankfully I’m in a cozy warm train right now watching Christmas movies. First was Rudolph the red nose reindeer - such a classic! I totally love the island of misfit toys! Lol, I wouldn’t mind an elephant with pink spots… and I’m sure any little boy would like a water gun that squirts jelly. Although I have to say I have never seen either of those toys in a store. Ha ha, and then there was the train with square wheels, okay, that one is a misfit because it simply doesn’t work! Anyways, Rudolph saves the day with his red nose, even though everyone made fun of him when he was growing up. It’s funny he’s not more emotionally scarred. I’m not even going to comment on the elf that wanted to be a dentist… wouldn’t that be a demanding field in Christmas town since everyone probably eats a lot of sweets? Meh. I just finished watching the Grinch that stole Christmas (the cartoon version). My all time favorite part is when the Grinch’s heart grew three sizes that day after he learned the true value of Christmas. Plus, Cindy-loo-who is super cute as she embodies the innocence of a child.
One thing I noticed in both movies was the animal cruelty. First in Rudolph there was Yukon Cornelius who was a dog sledder that was whipping his dogs. Plus Santa was doing the same thing with the reindeer! But it’s not like that would make the reindeer go any faster, unless you can speed up your flying speed by pushing more air passed you… like the dogs that can actually run faster. Meh. Anyways, all humans in the movie were shown often whipping the animals. I didn’t really notice it, but then when the Grinch came on and I saw how violent he was to his little dog, I was shocked I had never spotted it before. I mean honestly, that dog was being seriously abused but still in the end he came to save the Grinch from falling over a cliff. What a good dog!
So, I really didn’t expect to be sitting on a train ranting about children’s Christmas movies, but what are you going to do when you have nothing to do? … It’s rather strange not having anything to do. It’s been rush-rush/stress-stress this past week. Yesterday I wrote my last exam of the semester and then handed in my take-home. Now I’m FREE!! Actually, I have quite a nice and long break (compared to most years). Let’s hope I make the best of it!

Sugar Plum Fairy Night

Just finished my second exam... and of course there was some things that I didn't know, but all in all I'm sure I couldn't have done that poorly. Now I just have one more exam and a take-home to finish. I'm soooo excited!! Almost done the semester!! WOOT!! So this is my scheduled plan for the next week.

Tonight: I'm going to see the nutcracker with my friend Craig. That will push my christmas spirit into high gear. Plus I love the ballet! (Surprisingly I never talk about it, considering that part of my blog name references it... lol). So you can only imagine that I'm super excited! I've only seen it once before when I was much younger but I loved it!
Saturday: clean up house, go shopping, and then host dinner party for friends
Sunday + Monday: study
Tuesday: study party!
Wednesday: study
Thursday: hand in take-home and write final exam
Friday: freedom!

Can't wait! lol.

It's going to be a long winter

Wind chill of minus 25 degrees?!?!? Are you kidding me? The news is telling me to stay inside because of high frostbite risk... I think I'll stay inside then. Stupidly though, I've already been outside today... and it's quite cold... I'm talking you-can-feel-it-in-your-lungs type cold. ouch! Yesterday probably felt colder though because of all the snow and lack of sun, but it wasn't nearly as bad as today. brrrr.... chilly chilly.
So exams are coming, I only have 5 more classes to attend to and then I'll be in serious exam mode (hopefully... lol). By this time next week I'll only have two more exams and then I'll be done. Can't wait! However that means that this week is going to be pure hell. lol. no wait, hell is warm... so think of a place that has a tortuous name but is equally cold. That's here I'll be.
